I mentioned on Be SMART this year that one of my challenges this year is to Take 12 Trips.  This challenge was initiated by Clare from Need Another Holiday.  A self confessed part-time traveler Clare wanted to celebrate her blogs first birthday and set herself the challenge of taking 12 trips in a year. Having read that post, I instantly signed up for the challenge and since then so have 20 other people. Let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to travel and explore more?

Taking 12 Trips hasn’t got any fixed rules apart from the obvious – taking 12 trips in 12 months.  A trip can be as little as a day out exploring your town or a nearby town, discovering a new county with a weekend away, taking a short European break or a two week trip abroad.  The main objective is to explore and have new experiences.

I’ve set myself some SMART objectives for the Take 12 Trips challenge:

S – Take 12 trips within 12 months

– One trip a month

A – This can be days out, weekends away or longer

– I love to explore favourite places as well as new

T – Last year I made 10 trips without even thinking about it

These are definitely things I will aim for, but if I don’t make one trip a month, I’m not going to be too hard on myself.  As long as I get to 12 by the end of September, I’ll have completed the challenge.  My Take 12 Trips started in September last year and to date I’ve taken four trips.

A day trip discovering Lincoln

Lincoln, UK

A weekend in Norfolk

National Trust, Norfolk

A staycation in Birmingham

Staying Cool Apartments, Birmingham

A day trip to Chipping Campden

Chipping Campden, Cotswolds
So with four trips already taken, what have I got planned for the next eight?  Well there’ll be another trip to the South East coast of Ireland, a weekend in Newcastle, spending the day in Warwick and London being a tourist. I’m also deciding on a short European break but currently divided between Paris, Berlin or Nice.  I’d also like to have a few days in Harrogate and Bath.  Last year I enjoyed lots of short breaks and it seems this year might follow the same pattern.  As much as I love a two week break abroad, I am enjoying the little and often approach to travel.

Each month Clare will be writing a round up of what everyone, in the challenge, has been up to.  So if you’re looking for some inspiration for your next trip, why not have a read.  You never know you might find yourself signing up to the challenge too.

Wish it…..Dream it….Do it!
