What signals the start of the festive season?

I first started visiting the Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market about six years ago.  The market for me evokes a sense that the festive season is nearly upon us.  This year the market is the largest is has ever been.

If you are looking for gifts, you can choose from wooden toys to Christmas tree decorations to jewellery to ornaments, you will certainly be able to find something different.

For me it’s about the food, drink and atmosphere.  I have to have my annual fix of aBierwurst and aGluhwein followed by a flavoured chocolate bomb.  I am also partial to the pretzels.  All this is consumed while soaking up the atmosphere.

This year I went with Sarah, one of my ‘sex and the city’ girls, it was her first visit and she really enjoyed it, we had such a lovely evening wandering around the stalls.

If you’ve not yet visited the Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market here’s what you’re missing.

The heart of the Market is in Victoria Square, in front of the Town Hall and the council house, and is open everyday from 10am to 9pm until December 23rd.

The start of the Frankfurt market is like Starbucks Red Cups and the Coca Cola ‘the holidays are coming’ Christmas advert – it means the festive season is not far off.

It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas…..Happy Holidays!
