I think it is safe to say that the summer months are finally here.  Whether we get hours of sunshine or not, the three months of summer are some of the best times of the year.  Last summer I visited three cities on the East coast of America, including my first visit to Washington D.C., and, another first, Kent the Garden of England. This summer I’m looking forward to travelling to more places that I have not yet visited. My plans, so far, include visiting Bruges, Guernsey, Southern Ireland and Paris.

To get to Bruges and Guernsey I will be going on my first cruise.  I’m a little apprehensive about travelling on a ship.  I was perfectly fine on the boat ride we took from Boston to Salem, but that was only an hour each way. I’m not yet quite sure about three nights at sea.  It will either be a love or hate relationship with cruising.  I’m looking forward to exploring the architecture, canals and walking through the cobbled streets of Bruges.  I’m sure there will also be time to sample the Belgium chocolate.  In Guernsey I’ll be starting off in St Peters Port strolling around the marina and the harbour town, before exploring more of the island.

I’m so excited to be visiting my friend who lives on the east coast of southern Ireland.  I’m looking forward to seeing where she lives and exploring the gorgeous Irish countryside and landscape that she and my family have told me so much about.  I also hope to discover the real Ireland away from the tourist trail.  I can’t believe this will be my first visit to Ireland as my Grandad was Irish and we still have family living there. Perhaps this will be the start of my own love affair with the Emerald Isle.

What started my heart fluttering for Paris were the last episodes, nine years ago, of Sex and the City. I loved seeing Carrie explore Paris and since then I have wanted to visit.  It hasn’t helped that recently I’ve found a number of blogs about Paris life which make it feel like such a romantic city. I’m looking forward to seeing all the major sights, admiring the architecture, sitting outside cafes and indulging in pastries.  Having already made an impression on me I fear, once I have visited, Paris may just capture my heart.

I’m really looking forward to another summer of exploring new places and creating new memories.

I’m ready to put on…..my rose tinted sunglasses!
