Do you love all things vintage?
After missing the last Blighty Boutique due to my having the wrong date in the diary, I was really looking forward to the Blighty Boutique on the Jubliee weekend. As you'll know it wasn't the best weekend for the weather, never the less I braced myself and made the effort and I'm so glad that I did. Blighty Boutique is a fair devoted to vintage and handmade items. I'd visited last summer and was impressed by the quality of the stalls, the prices and the organisation. So I was keen to make a return visit to see what vintage treasures I could find.
Entering the venue was like walking back in time. I arrived early in the day and the hall was already full. There was old time music playing , ladies dressed in 40's and 50's dresses and an array of stalls selling items from by gone years. At the entrance there was a little room set up for tea and cake, all decked out in Union Jack bunting. It took me some time to even get to the first few stalls. As well as re-worked furniture, there were lots of stalls selling china, glassware and crafters with original handmade items. There was something for everyone, whatever vintage era is your favourite or whatever you might collect. I loved the samples of material, old magazines and tins that stood proud against the china and glassware.
Among the stalls I found Daisy Cupcakes, selling her edible works of art all decorated for the Jubilee.
Also Alison who owns Felicitations Vintage was there selling her beautiful china and vintage finds. A china set really caught my eye, but I was trying to be good, as my china cabinet is getting rather full. However having gone round all the stalls I found myself back at Felicitations and by then someone had brought most of the set. I just couldn't resist buying something from the set as it is so pretty. So I brought the sugar bowl, which I can find many uses for within my collection (which one day I will introduce you too).
There were over 480 visitors to the Blighty Boutique and I'm sure they all left with something that will fill their lives with a little more vintage joy. The next two fairs are on Sunday 9 September and Sunday 9 December. Maybe I'll see you there!
Celebrate by gone years........get vintage inspired!
